FAQ: OET Has Officially Been Added To The List Of English Assessments Accepted By CGFNS For VisaScreen Applicants

As of August 01, 2022, OET has officially been added to the list of English Assessments accepted by CGFNS for USRN VisaScreen applicants. At this time OET is only accepted for VisaScreen applications and not for Credential Evaluation Service (CES) applications. Below are some frequently asked questions regarding the addition of OET to CGFNS’s assessment criteria.

Q: I passed the OET English Assessment last year (before August 01, 2022). Will my results be valid?

A: Yes! OET tests taken within the previous 2 years will be valid.

Q: Can I club or combine scores of different sections from more than one OET test sitting?

A: OET scores cannot be combined from different test sittings. All sections must be passed during the same test administration.

Q: What English Assessments are accepted by CGFNS for VisaScreen applicants?

A: Academic IELTS, MET, OET, Pearson PTE, TOEFL iBT, Cambridge Assessment English, and TOEIC.

Q: What is the passing OET score needed to satisfy CGFNS’ VisaScreen requirements?

A: Speaking: 350 (B), Reading 300 (C+), Listening (C+), Writing (C+).

Q: Are remote proctored (“at home”) tests accepted?

A: No. The English Assessment must be taken in person at a testing center

Q: Are there exemptions for the English Assessment requirement?

A: Applicants are exempt from needing to pass an English assessment if 1) entry-level professional education occurred in the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada (except Quebec), New Zealand, Ireland, or the USA, and 2) English was the language of instruction (including the language of the textbooks).

Q: Does Medliant reimburse the cost of the English Assessment?

A: Yes! Medliant will reimburse you the cost of an approved English Assessment when you provide proof of passing as part of our NCLEX Sponsorship Program. As part of this program, Medliant will also pay for the NCLEX review and exam upfront for qualified candidates.
