What is the US CGFNS VisaScreen Certificate?

CGFNS International is an immigration neutral nonprofit organization that assesses and validates the academic and professional credentials for foreign education healthcare professionals's (e.g. Registered Nurse) who wish to live and work in the United States.

Holding a CGFNS VisaScreen Certificate is a compulsory or mandatory component in the immigration process for foreign educated Registered Nurses to live and work in the U.S. The Certificate must be included with every visa petition filed on your behalf.

Nursing applicants who successfully complete and acquire a CGFNS VisaScreen will receive an official ICHP Certificate for the VisaScreen: Visa Credentials Assessment Service, which satisfies the U.S. Federal screening requirements to work in the U.S. as a Registered Nurse.

Who should apply for a CGFNS VisaScreen Certificate?

Registered Nurses who meet the basic immigration and educational requirements:

  • Have a U.S. based employer (Medliant International Healthcare Staffing) that will be the sponsor or petitioner for your U.S. immigration visa

  • Be a graduate of an accredited Bachelor of Nursing Degree education program

  • Have an active license as a Registered Nurse in another country

  • Have a minimum of 2 years of nursing experience (You may apply to Medliant with 12 months of current experience)

  • Demonstrate English Language proficiency (TOEFL or Academic IELTS); some countries are exempt if your nursing program and textbooks were taught in English

CGFNS applications must be completed within 12 months or it will be deemed incomplete.

Required Documents for the CGFNS VisaScreen Certificate Application:

  • Secondary School information (High School Diploma) if it has been less than 10 years since you graduated from High School

  • Nursing License(s), both current and past

  • Nursing Registration(s)

  • Nursing Degree

  • Profession Education Information (e.g. Bachelor of Nursing Degree)

  • Transcript, Course Description/Break-down

  • English Assessment (Either TOEFL iBT or Academic IELTS)

    o TOEFL iBT (Minimum scores: 83 overall; 26 in speaking)

    o Academic IELTS (Minimum scores: 6.5 overall; 7.0 spoken band)

o You may be exempt for the English Assessment if your education was completed in the United Kingdom, Canada (except Quebec), New Zealand, Ireland, or the USA, AND/OR the degree and textbooks for the degree were instructed in English

*Note that all documents submitted must be in English or translated into English (CGFNS can translate documents into English for a fee)

Fees:

  • Initial CGFNS VisaScreen Application: $540.00 USD

  • Expedited Review Service: $500 USD

  • Translation Fee (per page): $85 USD

o Remember, Medliant International Healthcare Staffing will reimburse the cost of the CGFNS VisaScreen when you begin working in the United Stated!
